Why cut veggies are expensive and what to consider elaborate from Freshggies prospective
Why Cut Vegetables, fruits and Greens Are More Expensive?
1. Labor and Processing Costs
Cut veggies go through additional handling:
Washing, peeling, trimming, slicing, and packaging.
This process often involves human labor or specialized euipment.
The more “ready to use” a veggie is, the more work went into preparing it.
Example: A whole carrot is just harvested and washed. Pre-cut carrot sticks go through extra peeling, cutting, and sorting.
2. Packaging and Materials
Pre-cut vegetables require specialized packaging.
Packaging protects shelf life and hygiene.
3. Added Value
You're paying for:
Convenience: no prep time
Consistency: uniform pieces, peeled, trimmed
Cleanliness: pre-washed and often ready to eat
