    What’s in the pack:

    1 cup banana stem (Vazhaithandu), finely chopped

    1 small onion, chopped

    1-2 green chilies, slit (optional)

    1/2 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste

    1/2 teaspoon sambar powder (optional, for extra flavor)

    Fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)

    Sliced onions

    Garlic pods

    Some almonds

    What you need to add :

    Oil

    1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder

    1-2 dried red chilies (optional, for heat)

    Salt (to taste)

    Water (as needed)

    Instructions:

    Sauté the Base:
    In a pot, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When they splutter, add the dried red chilies (if using).
    Add the chopped onions and sauté for 2-3 minutes until they turn translucent.
    Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute, until the raw smell disappears.
    Stir in the turmeric powder, sambar powder (if using), and a pinch of salt. Mix everything well.
    Add the Banana Stem:
    Add the chopped banana stem (Vazhaithandu) to the pot and stir well.
    Cook the banana stem for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
    Add Water and Simmer:
    Add the water or vegetable broth to the pot. Stir to combine, then bring the mixture to a boil.
    Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the banana stem softens and the flavors blend.
    Final Seasoning:
    Adjust the salt to taste.
